Be Still My Soul

This painting is about the storms we face, which sometimes don’t seem to have a reason or an end. But I just want to give my witness of a loving Heavenly Father who is so aware of us and is only wanting our best possible good. And He gives us these trials for a reason. A very wise man has said,”To exercise faith is to trust that the Lord knows what He is doing with you and that He can accomplish it for your eternal good even though you cannot understand how He can possibly do it. We are like infants in our understanding of eternal matters and their impact on us here in mortality. Yet at times we act as if we knew it all. … Your Father in Heaven and His Beloved Son love you perfectly. They would not require you to experience a moment more of difficulty than is absolutely needed for your personal benefit or for that of those you love.” -Richard G. ScottAnd so although I’ve been blind to the reasons, a peace fills my heart knowing that Heaven is aware of me and that Heavenly Father knows what He is doing with me. And all these things I must go through are for my eternal good. And so I echo the words of the hymn:”Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side;Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;Leave to thy God to order and provide; In every change He faithful will remain.Be still, my soul; thy best, thy heavenly, FriendThrough thorny ways leads to a joyful end.”24″ x 36″ oil on masonite
