Patience
“But let patience have her perfect work… “
James 1:4
I love this verse of scripture. I imagine patience as a kind of angel that comes into our lives and does a little bit of tidying up, so to speak. Tweaking this, fixing that, adjusting this… and realigning us with the Lord. I’ve experienced this kind of “perfect work” the past 9 months or so, as my husband and I have sought after the Lord’s will for us, and have tried to follow through. I’ve discovered that it’s one thing to do God’s will, it’s another thing to have to wait 9 months or more to accomplish it! It has been beautiful to watch, however, as the Lord has taken my will, and slowly turned it more and more towards His. When first given direction I thought, “Are you sure you want me to do that?” and now, over the course of patience, I have found myself pleading, “Please Lord let me do it.” Isn’t that wonderful how the Lord is so patient with us, and in a beautiful symphony of events can make our desires become one with His? How grateful I am that the Lord has given me, and continues to give me, a course in patience and in trusting Him. I feel myself being molded a little bit each day. Yes, thank you patience, for your perfect work.
