About The Painting

I created this painting as a follow up to “Let Go”, so It’s kind of fitting that I would finish it on September 26th, the day when above of all others, a big black balloon is handed to me. Today marks the 5th anniversary of my son’s accident. It’s always a little hard to swallow, and I always wonder if I’ll make it through the day without another life altering event. So “Release” is a gift, as it again reminds me to let go, and to find peace in submitting my will to God’s.

Designing this composition was a struggle because I wanted to include the beautiful face of the model, but I realized that the hands said all that needed to be said. I love how they are pointing upward but also turned outward. For it is only through God’s grace, made possible through the atonement of His Son, Jesus Christ, that we are able to let go and find peace.
